25+ Bible Verses About Pride

Bible Verses About Pride

Updated At:

June 1, 2025

Humility is a battle that we all face. Too many of us are too proud to see the opportunities that lie ahead if we submit to God's will. God despises pride and will punish the proud, according to the Bible.

A lack of humility is a character defect, but pride is a sin that drives a wedge between us and God. A false feeling of self-sufficiency, a lack of self-awareness, and an unwillingness to accept criticism are all symptoms of pride. In our pursuit of self-importance, we frequently engage in other immoral behaviors like jealousy, rage, and deceit. Embracing a spirit of humility brings us closer to God's desire and enhances our experience of His grace.

When we humble ourselves, we make room for spiritual development, physical healing, and stronger bonds with God and the people around us. In order to develop a spirit of humility, which includes recognizing our need for God and being teachable and open to His instruction, read these 25+ verses from the Bible that deal with pride.
