In June, Open Soul Foundation began a year-long partnership with Dry Bones Denver to provide meals, music, and community support to street youth and young adults in Denver, sharing Christ's love through presence and compassion.

In a time when non-profit budgets across the U.S. are increasingly stretched and many local programs face reductions, OpenSoul Foundation has stepped in to stand in the gap. We are committed to offering consistent, Christ-centered support to those often left behind. June marked the beginning of our year-long partnership with Dry Bones Denver, a ministry dedicated to walking alongside street youth and young adults in Denver with compassion, dignity, and the love of Christ.

Dry Bones Denver ministers to street youth and young adults who face daily battles for survival, seeking food, shelter, safety, and healing from deep trauma. But even in the midst of hardship, they long for moments of joy, community, and the freedom to simply be. In June, Open Soul Foundation had the privilege of sponsoring three key areas to support this vision: over 100 nourishing meals, bowling outings full of laughter and connection, and space for musical expression through playing guitar and rediscovering their voice.

Sharing a Meal, Sharing Christ’s Love

Every Tuesday, over 25 street youth and young adults gather at the Dry Bones Drop-in Center for a warm meal and a moment of rest. Thanks to your generosity, we were able to sponsor more than 100 of these meals in June. But it’s never just about the food, it’s about presence. At these lunches, youth find a welcoming space where they are seen, heard, and valued. It’s Christ’s love served on paper plates, wrapped in kindness, and shared with dignity.

Moments to Breathe: Bowling as a Sacred Pause

June also brought the gift of play. We sponsored bowling outings where street youth and young adults could laugh, move, connect, and forget, if only for a little while, the weight they carry. Bowling became more than just a game; it was a sacred pause. These moments of fun helped them step outside the pressure of job hunting, navigating appointments, and surviving the streets, allowing them to feel young, joyful, and human again.

Finding Their Voice Through Music

Dry Bones also creates space for street youth and young adults to engage with music in organic, healing ways. Guitars are available at the Drop-in Center, and in June, we helped provide the setting for youth to engage with these instruments as a means of expression and rest. Whether strumming a few chords or listening in community, music offered them a way to reconnect with themselves and their stories. As Christ gave voice to the voiceless, Dry Bones offers that same dignity, reminding every young person that they have worth, they have a story, and they are not alone.

The Power of Presence

What Dry Bones offers goes far beyond the program, it is the ministry of presence. Consistent, compassionate, interruptible. In partnering with them, OpenSoul Foundation is helping to embody Jesus' love in real time, through meals, music, play, and relationships. It’s not just support; it’s soul restoration.
