In May, the children at Pas cu Pas spent a beautiful day learning the joy of giving and receiving. Through shared meals, outdoor activities, caring for animals, preparing food together, and creating care packages for families in need, they experienced how even small acts of kindness can bring hope, connection, and love to others.
In May, the children at Pas cu Pas Foundation in Borșa experienced one of the most beautiful values woven into the heart of this ministry: giving and receiving. Receiving with gratitude, and giving back with joy.
The month was filled with simple moments that, at Pas cu Pas, are never really simple. The children spent time together, shared meals, talked, laughed, and enjoyed the kind of ordinary belonging that every child needs. Around the table, in conversation, and in the rhythm of being together, something deeper was taking root.

They were not only receiving care. They were learning how to become people who care for others.
Receiving With Gratitude
For many children, being cared for can feel complicated. Some have learned to expect disappointment. Some have had to grow up too quickly. Some have not always known what it feels like to receive freely, without fear, pressure, or shame.
At Pas cu Pas, receiving is part of healing. A shared meal, a safe place, a listening adult, a warm conversation, a joyful activity, all of these become quiet reminders that they are seen, known, and loved.
But Pas cu Pas also teaches that receiving is not the end of the story. When a child receives love in a healthy environment, that love begins to overflow. Gratitude slowly becomes generosity.
This month, the children were invited to give back.
Giving Back With Joy

Together, the children prepared care packages for several families in the village who are going through difficult times. What made the moment so moving was not only the packages themselves, but the spirit with which the children prepared them.
They gave attention to the details. They worked with care. They understood that what they were preparing would go into the hands of real families, people with real burdens, real needs, and real stories.
There is a special kind of beauty in watching children give from what they have. Not because they have an abundance of material things, but because their hearts are capable of abundance. Many times, the children surprise us with the sincere and natural way they choose to love, share, and help.
They remind us that generosity does not begin with having much. It begins with noticing someone else.
The Joy of Caring for Others
One of the quiet miracles of Pas cu Pas is that children are not only protected and supported. They are formed. Step by step, they are learning how to love, how to belong, how to take responsibility, and how to see the needs of others with compassion.
Through experiences like this, the children are growing in an environment where kindness is practiced, not just spoken about. They are learning that even the smallest act of care can bring hope to someone who is tired, discouraged, or struggling.
A care package may seem simple. But in the hands of a child who prepared it with love, it becomes something more. It becomes a message: you are not forgotten. Someone thought of you. Someone wanted to help.
And for the child who gives it, the gift becomes a lesson that may remain for life.
“It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35, NKJV).
This is not only a verse to memorize. It is a truth children learn by living it. They discover that joy grows when it is shared. They discover that love becomes stronger when it is given away. They discover that they are not too small to make a difference.
About Our Partnership

Open Soul Foundation is proud to sponsor Pas cu Pas Foundation and to come alongside the beautiful work they are doing in Romania, step by step, child by child.
The work belongs to Pas cu Pas: the daily presence, the patient formation, the meals, conversations, lessons, care packages, and countless moments where children are reminded that they matter. We are simply grateful to help support a ministry where children are not only cared for, but are also being shaped into people who know how to care for others.
Open Soul Foundation was here.
