In June, OpenSoul Foundation delivered over 1,000 meals to families in Ecuador through its Laborers in His Harvest mission, offering food, prayer, and the hope of Christ to those in need.
In June, Open Soul Foundation’s Laborers in His Harvest ministry in Ecuador continued its mission to serve the poor, feed the hungry, and bring the love of Christ to families facing overwhelming hardship. As economic pressures rise, and food insecurity deepens in vulnerable communities, our team on the ground is responding with urgency, compassion, and the unwavering hope of the Gospel.
Each week, food kits were thoughtfully assembled and delivered to families in need across nearby towns. On Tuesdays, our volunteers gathered to prepare the kits with care, and by midweek, they were in the hands of those who needed them most. In total, over 1,000 meals were delivered in June alone, providing vital nourishment to families who often had nothing more than bread and water to survive on. In many cases, the timing of delivery was nothing short of providential. The arrival of food was not just sustenance, it was an answer to prayer.
One delivery led our team to a young mother caring for her five children and her elderly mother, after being abandoned by her husband. Stories like hers are all too common. Yet, with each visit, our volunteers bring more than physical aid. They bring Scripture, prayer, and presence. These are not just deliveries, they are sacred encounters, moments where Christ’s love is felt and lives are reminded that they matter.
Feeding the Body, Nourishing the Soul
What began as a response to hunger has grown into a ministry of deep presence and love. With every delivery, families are not only fed, they are prayed over, encouraged, and invited to experience the hope of Christ. The Gospel is shared not through speeches, but through acts of compassion, words of peace, and the steady presence of those who care.
The response from the community has been deeply moving. Many have expressed their gratitude not only for the food, but for the sense of being seen, remembered, and embraced by God’s love. These are the glimpses of the harvest Jesus spoke of, souls opening to grace, families touched by divine care.
Looking Ahead
As we hear of more families in crisis, the need continues to grow. We are preparing to keep a supply of food kits readily available for immediate distribution whenever a need arises. We trust that God will continue to multiply what we have, just as He did with the loaves and fishes.
On the Ground and In the Word
Our faithful volunteers, Chris and Cindy, are also preparing for their upcoming Spanish driver’s license tests, which will allow them to reach even more remote areas safely and efficiently. Please keep them in your prayers as they continue to serve tirelessly in this mission field.
