Self-love can get a bad rep, but that is only because it is misunderstood. When some people think of self-love their mind automatically goes to pride and superiority. This isn’t what self-love is about though. God wants us to love others, but he wants us to love ourselves too. After all, how can we really love someone else when we have none for our own person?
Loving yourself is not boasting and letting your ego take over. It is taking care of yourself – how you treat yourself, how you present yourself, how you feed your body and your mind. Even reading the Bible and reflecting on it is an act of self-love, because you are taking the time to educate and guide yourself through God’s wisdom.
The Bible verses we have curated will show you just what it means to love yourself the way God intended you to. Give yourself the kindness of understanding these scriptures and applying them in your life. And remember that treating yourself kindly is a good thing.
