25+ Bible Verses About Money

Bible Verses About Money

Updated At:

June 1, 2025

Money is a sensitive topic. It’s vital to our livelihood – we need it to survive in this world. To many, it’s a source of stress because they can’t provide for themselves or their loved ones. However, some let money lead their lives and motivate them in anything.

Those walk a fine line and tip over into greed more often than not. It is greed and obsession with getting rich that leads people to put their love for money above their love for God, something that the Bible condemns in Hebrews 13:5. That’s why we need to learn how to foster a healthy relationship with money. Our finances are meant to help us live a good life, but our lives should never revolve around making and spending money.

Learn how to better approach your finances by reading this collection of Bible verses about money. Allow them to guide you so your financial decisions don’t forsake your faith and gratitude. Open your eyes to the fact that material things will never give you a spiritually fulfilling life.

2. Hebrews 13:5

"Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, 'Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.'"

Explanation: Contentment in God’s presence brings peace, making it unnecessary to chase wealth.

3. Matthew 6:24

Explanation: Jesus teaches that devotion to God cannot coexist with a devotion to money.

4. Proverbs 3:9-10

"Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine."

Explanation: Giving generously to God leads to blessings, as we prioritize Him over material wealth.

"Dishonest money dwindles away, but whoever gathers money little by little makes it grow."

Explanation: Wealth gained through hard work and patience is more enduring than wealth gained dishonestly.

8. Ecclesiastes 5:10

"Whoever loves money never has enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income. This too is meaningless."

Explanation: The pursuit of wealth alone leads to dissatisfaction, as it cannot fulfill deeper needs.

9. Matthew 6:19-21

"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven."

Explanation: Jesus encourages us to focus on lasting, heavenly treasures over temporary material wealth.

10. 1 Timothy 6:17-19

"Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God."

Explanation: Wealth is uncertain, but placing hope in God provides stability and encourages generosity.

13. Malachi 3:10

"Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house. Test Me in this,' says the Lord Almighty, 'and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing.'"

Explanation: Jesus teaches the value of generosity and focusing on heavenly treasures over earthly possessions.

18. Psalm 37:16

"Better the little that the righteous have than the wealth of many wicked."

Explanation: Living a righteous life with modest resources is better than gaining wealth through unjust means.

19. Proverbs 15:16

"Better a little with the fear of the Lord than great wealth with turmoil."

Explanation: Contentment and reverence for God bring peace, unlike the turmoil that often accompanies wealth.

20. Luke 6:38

"Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."

Explanation: Generosity results in blessings, as God rewards those who give freely.

21. Proverbs 19:17
